Chibuzor and Omo were made for each other and their story will make you want to fall in love again.
CHIBUZOR
It was the start of a new year in 2017 and I’d resumed work excited from a fun festive season soon to be accompanied by a fresh set of Entry Level Trainees at GTBank, Nnamdi Azikiwe road, Port Harcourt.
I vividly recall having a discussion with my boss – Louisa the morning the Trainees resumed. There was a knock on the door close to us which I opened to reveal a pretty but seemingly rushing face. Knowing she was a Trainee who obviously didn’t know her way to the Training room, I immediately pointed upwards in its direction, and that became our first but shortest interaction which led to several longer conversations in the course of her 4 months training program.
We got to find out that we were not only colleagues-in-view but neighbours, attended same Catholic Church and even peers so we shared a similar taste in both old and recent music and gossip; therefore Compatibility settings = Check! Soon after, our ‘travel and tour agency’ began. The first of the many fun trips was a holiday getaway same day to Ibeno beach and Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort alongside an ex-colleague – Ochuke and wifey, Tammy.
With more time spent together, it became clear to me that this love and happiness was no fluke so approximately a year after and precisely on my birthday, I decided to pop the BIG question. I still recall that Sunday night at Sky Bar, Genesis Mall like it was yesterday. It was the Grand Finale of Big Brother Naija Double Wahala season with Miracle crowned the Winner amidst very hopeful fans of Cee-C who obviously needed a ‘miracle’ to win. My birthday celebrations followed soon after and I grabbed the mic to serenade my lady with a rendition of Banky W’s Heaven track (Susu’s song). I sang and rapped to her till she cried (probably sensing that I was about to pop the question). Well, her tears didn’t stop me from asking nor her from saying YES!
Now, we both can listen to her favourite artiste – Beyonce’s Single Ladies track without me feeling guilty. True talk though, “If you like it, then you should put a ring on it!” because now I’m Sprung like T-Pain and like Akon, I Can’t Wait to put the wedding band on my colleague, neighbour, church-mate, travel-mate, Google map/tour guide, amebo, shaku shaku/gwara gwara, off-key karaoke partner and BFF!
I’m in love with you, OMOANA.
OMO
It was the first day of my Training School at GTBank and due to an unpredictable Port Harcourt traffic, I was running late. I was directed upstairs by the security man and I quickly ran to the first door I saw and knocked. As I went in, I saw this dude who just pointed towards the last floor and in my head, I’m like, “How does this one know where I’m going to??”
Shortly after that, this ‘dude’ and I got talking and we found out that we had so much in common, we both lived in the same neighbourhood, attended the same church, loved the same kind of music, loved to dance and gist …coincidence or nah?? He would sometimes stop by my house after work and we would sit in the car and gist for hours and hours! We would hang out and have so much fun without me getting bored which is so rare.
As time went by and with all the time spent together, it was quite inevitable the strong connection that had spun between us and we decided to hit the road with a long holiday by taking a trip to Le Meridien in Uyo…I can say it was all I expected and more.
Fast forward to a year after and my best friend asked me to spend the rest of my life with him and I’m like “Hell yeah!!” I’m so excited to be doing life with the love of my entire life, my travel buddy, gossip partner, the ying to my yang, the one God specially designed for me.
You found me when I wasn’t ready to be found, you showed me the meaning of true love. Seasons may change, winter to spring but I’ll love you until my dying day.
