Mothers and Mothers-in-law are a well known topic when it comes to weddings.
The general thought is that they don’t get along; they antagonize each other most times. If you’re keen on carrying the moms along in peace, here are some ways you can get both your mother and mother-in-law involved and working together for your wedding:
Go shopping with them for outfits
This is probably one of the great ways of bonding. Three of you can go shopping together to pick outfits they will be wearing for the wedding. Give them the idea of what your wedding colors and patterns are. Then let them have freedom to pick what they each like within these boundaries. They don’t have to be the same. Remember not to take sides or admire one’s choice more than the other.
Get them to ‘’Man the Area’’
This means getting them as backup in case anything goes wrong. For instance, ensuring that meals get to everyone, or getting unruly guests out of the event. They can also help you keep the makeup artist or hairdresser in line if you’re too nice to say something when you don’t like the look. Anything that will get them actively involved in your wedding. Also, it’s necessary that you make sure that their roles are defined- let them work closely enough but let them each be responsible for something separate.
Let them pick out some priorities
Both mothers would really love one particular thing to be present at the wedding. It’s important to get to know what they are and let them be present there. Not so much that it’ll choke you and not so little that it’ll break their hearts.
Get them to shop with you for your wedding gown
They would be excited about following you to try out your wedding gown. They can also share opinions or give their ideas about your outfit. It’s important to get them talking even if you’ll still go with what you want. You can even get them to choose the shoes you will be wearing on your big day
