One sector it has really hit big is hospitality & events. We have seen a lot of events been cancelled, others postponed due to the pandemic, a lot of people are on the edge of their sits waiting for things to return back to normal but sorry to be the bear of the bad news we are not yet there, planning events post Covid-19 would have a different turn.

With the gradual ease on lock down protocols, there are still some strict regulations on events and gatherings. Although I know there are a lot of wide spread skepticism about the whole issue, but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry. Moreover, it’s advisable we abide by government laws, most of them are for our safety.

I would be stating 3 areas that needs to be noted and tips on potential alternatives that would help event planners and owners in planning events post Covid-19 in other to get great results:

1. Guest Management

Before the pandemic, we’ve had weddings, birthdays, baby showers e.t.c fill a thousand sit capacity hall to the bream. Now in the post Covid-19 era, events would be planned in these same venues but with far less guests due to the fact that we would now have to maintain social distancing at these events.

TIP:
In order to carry along guests that may not be invited event owners and planners would have to leverage more on technology. Solutions like Zoom, Google Meets, Coshots can help you share contents within a close group of people. This way guest that are not present that the physical event could leverage on this tech solutions to receive realtime updates about the event.

2. Catering Services

Food has always been the life of the party. From all the “Owambe” to conferences, everyone looks forward to item 7. However, it can’t be business as usual anymore. Having people been served or them serving themselves is not an advisable fit at the time.

TIP:
Caterers would have to adapt to using more of disposables and ensure less hands come in contact with the pack before it gets to the guest. In a nutshell, they would have to avoid using reusable as much as possible and do more of disposables.

3. Gifts Management

A lot of celebrants would notice an increase in the number of gift items they would be receiving due to the fact that a lot of guest that should be present would most likely not be available. In view of this the easiest way for family and friends to show their love is by sending gifts.

TIP:
You would all agree that no one would like to receive an unwanted or duplicated gift item. The solution to this challenge is setting up a gift registry. This would help ensure you receive the right gift items at the right proportion, making it even more easier for your friends & family to get you gifts. They are a couple of gift registries available and if I would recommend you could check out Palmfront, they run a fantastic gift registry service that allows you add items to your registry from any store in the world that’s asides items listed in the gift room.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a tough one for all.
